Draft — pending lawyer review before launch
Terms of service
Last updated: November 2026.
These terms are a contract between you and CouchRaid (“we”). By starting a trial or paying for a server you agree to them. We wrote them to be readable; where they are unclear, the plain meaning wins.
1. What we provide
We rent you a game server: a container on hardware we operate, running a game’s dedicated-server software, reachable at an address we give you. We also provide a dashboard and an optional Discord bot (the “co-admin”) that can operate your server on your instructions.
2. Free trial
- Each person gets one free trial of 48 hours per game-hosting account. No card is required. You can extend it once, by 24 hours, from the server page: inside the last 12 hours of the trial, or after it has paused (the server then comes back for the extra day).
- Plans are sold by player slots. Memory is not capped per plan: your server shares the node’s resources with others, and we monitor it. Each server has a safety limit far above normal use, only so one runaway server cannot take a shared node down.
- At the end of the trial the server pauses with its files intact. If you have not subscribed within 7 days, it is deleted.
- We may refuse or end a trial when our abuse checks (disposable email, repeated trials from one network or device) trigger.
3. Paid plans
- Plans are monthly subscriptions billed in advance through Stripe. Prices are shown before you pay and may change with notice; existing subscriptions keep their price until you change plan.
- You can cancel any time. Your server stays up until the end of the paid period, then pauses and is deleted after 7 days.
- If a payment fails we retry and email you. Servers with unpaid invoices pause after the retries.
- 7-day refund: if CouchRaid is not for you, ask support (our Discord or the support address on the dashboard) within 7 days of your first payment and we refund that first paid month in full. One refund per customer; it covers the first month of your first subscription, not later months or later servers. Later months are not refunded pro rata, except where the law says otherwise.
4. Your responsibilities
- You own the game licences you and your players need. We host server software; we do not sell games.
- Do not use the server to attack others, host illegal content, mine cryptocurrency, run anything other than the game you picked, or evade bans.
- Keep your sign-in email secure. Anyone with your email inbox can access your dashboard.
- The co-admin acts on instructions from the linked Discord account. You are responsible for what it is told to do.
5. Data, backups and deletion
- Your world files are yours. You can download them from the panel at any time while the server exists.
- We take periodic backups as a convenience. They are not a guarantee; keep your own copy of anything you cannot lose.
- Deleted servers and their backups are gone. We cannot recover them.
6. Availability
We aim for the server to be reachable at all times but game servers crash, hardware fails and updates break things. We will tell you about incidents on our status page and fix them as fast as we can. We do not promise a specific uptime percentage on the plans listed today.
7. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the problem. We are not liable for lost game progress, lost time or indirect losses.
8. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; material changes are announced by email or on the dashboard at least 14 days before they apply. Questions go to our Discord or the support address on the dashboard.
